Have you heard of GALA Festival?

If you have, then you already know that it’s an exciting event for LGBTQ+ Choruses around the country (and the world!) that only happens once every 4 years. And if you haven’t, click the link above to find our more information about this wonderful celebration of LGTBQ+ voices. The Festival in 2020 was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so GALA is extremely excited to be hosting one this summer and is expecting record turnout (over 7,000 people).

GALA Festival 2024 will be in Minneapolis, MN and will span Wednesday July 10 – Sunday July 14. It’s a wonderful time of community, music, and queer joy. You’ll have the opportunity to perform multiple times in front of other chorus attendees and the Minneapolis community, see performances from other choruses around the world, learn more about music and technique through various workshops, and meet new friends from all walks of life.

Registrations are now open, and TGMC will be going with a contingent from this area. We’d love to have you attend GALA as a member of TGMC, and in order to do this you need to do a few things asap:

• Let us know your intentions to sing with us! Please contact president@tgmchorus.org.
• Register for GALA as an individual – even if you’re performing with TGMC you must also register as an individual (click here for step-by-step instructions on their website). Rates go up as we get closer to the date, so registering sooner may save you on costs.
• Plan to sing with us for the March-May concert cycle. Our preference is that anyone singing with us at GALA also perform with us in a normal concert cycle so we have the extra time to learn to perform together. Also, some of our GALA music will be pulled from this cycle so it will help us learn the music even better. If this is not possible but you do still want to come to GALA, we’d still love to have you. There are costs associated with attending GALA that are the responsibility of the chorus member. These include festival registration, travel (airfare and hotel), and food. The unique experience of attending GALA and witnessing the magnitude of LGBTQ+ voices from around the world is well worth the costs and we encourage everyone to attend. TGMC is also looking to book group rates for airfare and hotels that can help keep costs lower.
